Tim Howard – Professor, Coordinator of BFA Musical Theatre
Tim Howard (Musical Theatre Coordinator, Professor: MT Workshop, Acting, Audition Techniques, Director) has had a diverse career as a Director/Actor/Singer and Music Director.
Directing highlights include collaborating with the writers of Hair to premiere the 20th Anniversary production of the legendary musical. His direction of Big River at Oldcastle Theatre Company garnered 2016 Berkshire Theater Award nominations for Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Production of a Musical as well as a Critic’s Choice Award. He also received a Critic’s Voice Award from TIME Magazine for his work on Get Any Guy Thru Psychic Mind Control or your Money Back.
In 2022, as part of the New Works-New Voices series at WCSU, Tim’s direction of The Radium Girls: A Jaw Dropping New Musical received five national awards, as well as a BroadwayWorld Award for his direction. He also has the rare distinction of having his direction acknowledged by KCACTF (Kennedy Center) for three consecutive years in a row for Evita (2018), The Drowsy Chaperone (2017) and Parade (2016), all winning top national awards.
As an actor, Tim was featured as Jake in the Broadway National Tour of Show Boat, directed by the legendary Harold Prince and choreographed by Susan Stroman. He had the honor of working with Mr. Prince again as J.N. Starnes in Parade conducted by the Tony award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown. While on the road, he wrote and starred in Leachman and Howard: Together at Last with the late Oscar/Emmy award-winning, Cloris Leachman. Most recently, he co-starred in Souvenir at Oldcastle Theatre in Vermont.
New York credits include The Happy Prince, creating the role of Cedric in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Shine (National Music Theatre), Jubilee (Ensemble Studio Theatre, the workshop of Hunchback of Notre Dame for ABC Television, Abelard and Heloise (Roundabout Theatre Company) and Elegies, directed by Bill Russell (National Dance Institute).
Regional: Studio Arena, Capital Repertory, Boston Shakespeare, Merrimack Repertory, Stamford Theatre Works, Pittsburgh CLO, Stages St. Louis, and Actors Theatre of Louisville.
Television: Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Loving, and Late Night with David Letterman.
