Joni Johns Lerner – Associate Chair
Joni Johns Lerner (Associate Chair, Associate Professor: Costume Design, Costume Technology, Costume History, Evolution of Fashion) has been working in the NY professional costume industry for over twenty-five years. Examples of her work can be seen on the stages of the Broadway, the touring & Japan companies of The Lion King, the Broadway & National Tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie and Wicked.
Other projects have included New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Ballet & Kansas City Ballet. Her work can also be seen on the Spiderman costumes at Universal Studios Theme Park in Florida. Joni was co-owner of Fabric Effects in NYC, a fabric dyeing, painting & silk screening company serving the theater, film and fashion industries. She has collaborated with numerous designers of stage, screen & ballet as well as Bette Midler for special costumes for her stage tours and Maurice Sendak on several opera projects as well as a numbered & signed series of hand painted silk scarves.
