Hope Katcher-Striano – Adjunct Professor (Intro to Theatre Arts)
Hope Katcher-Striano (Adjunct Professor) is a playwright, actor, director. Full-length plays include 2022 FutureFest finalist The Little Sisters of Littleton, The 36th Line, winner of the Dorothy Silver Playwriting Competition, finalist for the Julie Harris Playwriting Award, and semi-finalist for the National Playwriting Conference at the O’Neill. Her newest work, Margot, will be read soon at the Actors Studio Playwright/Directors Unit where she is a member. Short plays include Bread in Laughter is the Best Medicine: Forty-Five 5-Minute Plays in the Time of Coronavirus, Scarsdale in The Best Ten-minute Plays of 2021, both published by Smith & Kraus, Blue Sky with Approaching Storm, published by ArtAge, Missus Dobbs, American, featured at the Rogue Theatre Festival and the Writers Playground at Sharon Playhouse, and, in its filmed version, a semi-finalist at the San Francisco and New Jersey Film Festivals. Two other short plays have been filmed and can be seen on YouTube: A Nice Drive and Planning Ahead. As an actor, she debuted on Broadway as Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof opposite Zero Mostel and repeated the role opposite Herschel Bernard, directed by Jerome Robbins. With lots in between, her last NY appearance was in the off-Broadway production of Daddy Issues. TV and film roles include Nurse Jackie and more. Kate holds an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing with concentrations in Playwriting and Memoir from Western Connecticut State University, and a BFA in Acting from Boston University. She is an Adjunct Professor of Theater at WCSU, member of the League of Professional Theatre Women, SAG/AFTRA and AEA.
