"As a first-generation student from Norwalk, going to college was foreign to me. As a direct result of my counselor at Norwalk High putting an application to WCSU in front of me, I landed at WCSU in the fall of 1985. I had been involved in student leadership programs in high school so I was inclined to get involved in college - but little did I know how much I would. I was involved with student clubs, served as an RA for 3.5 years, SGA senator for 3 years and served as president my senior year. I met many, many role models and mentors who encouraged my personal, academic and personal growth. By the beginning of my sophomore year, I knew I wanted to work on a college campus as a professional to support students in their own success. Fast forward to 2023 and I have pursued a 35-year career in higher education. I have to say that the last 15 years have been the most rewarding as I returned to Connecticut and work in the community colleges in CT and am proud of my alumni status."
