Macricostas School of Arts & Sciences

CreaTechnology

The Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences (MSAS) has a financial commitment from a donor to fund one or more projects annually that involve, engage and/or support students “directly in creative arts and technology.” Given the wide range of work across MSAS that directly involves students and that are both creative and technical, the funding opportunity was named “CreaTechnology.” The exact funding amount is to be determined.

The goals of the CreaTechnology Grant are to:

      • Improve student engagement and learning in an increasingly global world
      • Include students in faculty-led research projects
      • Innovate in curriculum design and delivery

Therefore, grants will be awarded for faculty-driven creative projects that engage students in the use of technology or that require the purchase of technological tools.

For example, successful proposals might include:

      • Use or purchase of 21st-century instructional technological tools
      • Innovative and collaborative academic projects and programs that raise the aspirations of students and faculty members

Recently funded projects include:

      • Introducing students to digital archiving, curation, and historical preservation
      • Purchase of virtual-reality headsets for instructional use
      • Professional equipment to support the launch of a student-staffed podcast

Any full-time MSAS faculty member is eligible to apply. Although the project format and timeline are flexible, proposals must demonstrate that the funds will be used to directly involve/engage/support students and must include both “creative arts and technology.” Funding decisions will take into account the degree to which proposals meet these criteria and with an eye toward spreading the award funds around the Macricostas School as much as possible. Each award recipient will be expected to submit a written report of expenditures, outcomes, and (if applicable) findings to the Dean at the conclusion of the project funding period.

Proposal deadline: Monday, October 7, 2024 for projects to be funded between November 2024 and June 2025.
