2014 WCSU to honor Veterans on Nov. 11
DANBURY, CONN. — Western Connecticut State University will host its annual Veterans Day observance, as well as participate in the National Remembrance Day Roll Call, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014. The ceremonies will recognize all those who have served and WCSU veterans in particular. The events are free and open to the public.
Veterans Day events will include a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at the flagpoles in front of the Old Main Building on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. A reception will follow on the first floor of Old Main.
Western also will join colleges and universities from across the country in the Roll Call. The event is designed to honor the more than 6,800 servicemen and servicewomen lost in combat since Sept. 11, 2001. The reading of the names will begin at 1 p.m. on the Midtown campus. A moment of silence also will be observed at 2 p.m.
Approximately 6,800 American flags have been placed on the Midtown campus in memory of those who have been lost.
