Hispanic Heritage Month Trivia Night

We celebrated our second Hispanic Heritage Month Trivia Night, hosted by the Intercultural Affairs Office, LASO (Latin American Student Organization), and WCSU Beyond Borders. The event took place from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center lobby and welcomed students to join in an evening of learning, connection, and fun.

Participants explored fascinating facts about Hispanic/Latinx history, culture, and contributions while making new friends and strengthening our community bonds. The interactive atmosphere sparked meaningful conversations and provided an engaging way to honor Hispanic Heritage Month.

As a highlight, attendees had the chance to win exciting prizes, adding to the excitement of the evening. This event was a wonderful celebration of our vibrant Hispanic/Latinx community and its enduring impact.

Cultural Appreciation with Appropriating

We explored how to celebrate culture respectfully during an engaging and interactive event hosted by RA Gaby, the ICA Office, and BSWA. Through an educational game, participants learned about cultural appreciation versus appropriation, fostering a deeper understanding of how to honor cultures without disrespecting them.

The event took place from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Wolves Den, located on the lower level of the Midtown Student Center. Attendees had the chance to win exciting prizes and gain valuable insights, ensuring they didn’t look foolish this Halloween or any other occasion!

This meaningful event emphasized the importance of cultural awareness and respectful celebration.

Day Of The Dead (Dia De Muertos)

We came together to remember and honor loved ones with joy, music, and color. The Ofrenda was displayed from October 28 to November 4 in Warner Hall 101. Our celebration took place from noon to 2 p.m. on November 1, where we enjoyed food, shared information, and offered face-painting. All were welcome!

This event was sponsored by the Department of Social Science, LASO, WCSU Beyond Borders, the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and the Office of Intercultural Affairs.
