As ARMs, we encourage residents to balance academics and everyday life.  With the assistance of our peers and campus resources, we create opportunities that support ongoing success.

Welcome to the ARM Academic Success Spot. As you know, each of your buildings has at least one ARM, or Academic Resource Mentor. But there are lots of you, and they can't be everywhere at once, so we've created this page to provide you with some resources that you can access when your ARM isn't there to help.

ARMs are Academic Resource Mentors -- peers whose goal is to help you find the information, locate the resources, and connect you to people who can help you in your academic endeavors. They provide academic and life skills programming, too. More importantly, they serve as academic coaches, and working with them, you can identify issues that may be making your studies difficult, and begin to use strategies that will give you the ability to change the outcomes you want to change.

ARMs have office hours in your halls, when you can see them to get assistance. They are students, just like you! They can also help you touch base with PASS members, student volunteers who offer tutoring or assistance in subjects they do well in.

We're sure you'll see your ARM around in the building, but just in case, here are the ARMs for 2023 - 24:

Amy Mandelbaum

Hello!  My name is Amy (she/her).  I'm a senior Musical Theatre major, and I am an ARM this semester in Centennial Hall.  This is my third year as an ARM, and I am so excited to work with you all and help you achieve your goals! My strengths as an ARM include helping with organizational skills, time management, and writing/grammar.  In my free time, I love songwriting, thrifting, and spending time outside. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything!  Looking forward to having a great year with you all!

Hello! My name is Jordan and I am currently one of the Academic Resource Mentors (ARMs) in Centennial Hall! I am a senior, and my major is Secondary Education English. I am excited to help students to do their best academically this year. I am also a PASS Mentor, so I am very experienced with time management, organizational skills, study tips, and writing/grammar. When I'm not at work, I love to hang out with my friends and family, read tons of books (I love hearing some of your book recommendations), and learn a new language (currently Spanish). Please feel free to talk to me if you see me around campus. I hope that we have a great semester together!

Hello!  My name is Vera (she/her). I'm a sophomore, Nursing major, and I am an ARM this semester in Fairfield Hall.  This is my second semester being the ARM of Fairfield Hall, and I am very excited to work with our new freshmen. My job as an ARM goes beyond helping people with academic achievement because I also help to create a welcoming environment for everyone to open up and share their personal challenges. I love to cook and sing during my leisure time.  If you need help or anything you can reach out to me and I will be excited to help assist you.  Let's have an amazing semester together at WestConn!

Hello! My name is Tim and I am the Fall 2024 Academic Resource Mentor (ARM) in Grasso Hall! I am a Junior Nursing student. This is my first year as an ARM and second year in Grasso Hall. I am looking forward to working with everyone in Grasso and hopefully being able to connect you with the incredible resources we have here at WCSU! Please come to office hours and reach out with any questions you have this semester!
