Sharon Lewis is the Executive Director of the Connecticut Coalition for Economic and Environmental Justice (CCEEJ). She is also the founder of Boots on the Ground — an environmental justice advocate training school — and the Community Benefits Alliance, which helps communities understand and negotiate equitable development agreements. Her work spans climate policy, energy justice, and insurance reform, with a focus on empowering frontline communities to fight for what they deserve. Sharon has testified before Congress on the critical connection between climate change and the insurance industry, highlighting how discriminatory practices undermine housing, resilience, and recovery in vulnerable neighborhoods. She also leads campaigns to ensure equitable access to clean energy and community-led sustainability solutions. She believes sustainability is not just a goal — it’s a right. Through education, advocacy, and organizing, she is unlocking what’s possible when justice is at the center. Sharon is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College holding a B.A. in Urban Studies and an M.A. in Urban Planning.
