SPECIAL COOKING WITH THE FIRST LADIES: The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is promoting this event entitled Special Cooking with the First Ladies: Women’s History Month Program. The event is organized by the National First Ladies’ Library & Museum.

Step back in time to explore the unique stories of the women of the Manhattan Project, including the Calutron Girls, who worked in the “Secret City” of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with no knowledge of the impact they would have on World War II. This Women’s History Month program will shine a spotlight on these women’s contributions, complemented by insights into First Ladies Eleanor Roosevelt and Bess Truman, who helped guide the nation during this pivotal era. Participants will receive exclusive recipes from the wartime Oak Ridge cookbook Cooking Behind The Fence and a few favorites from the First Ladies of the 1940s.

Sarah Morgan, a historian with a passion for culinary history, will lead this engaging event. Known for her “Cooking with the First Ladies” content, Sarah brings history to life through the dishes of America’s past. Don’t miss this special session filled with stories of resilience, patriotism, and recipes that fueled a generation.

NOTE: American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided via Zoom. More information on accessing ASL services will be available during the Zoom webinar. This program is entirely virtual. From 7 to 8 p.m.
