MATIN MALIKZADA, AFGHAN POTTER – TALK AND DEMONSTRATION: Matin is a seventh-generation Afghan master of traditional pottery, internationally recognized for his technical skill and elegant designs. A native of Istalif, Afghanistan, once a vibrant center of ceramic art and commerce, Matin was forced to flee Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover. Along with his family, he resettled in New Milford, where he has established himself as an active artist in the region. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon in White Hall 017 and is sponsored by the Office of Diversity, the WCSU Muslim Student Association, and the Department of Art. Professor Jurg Lanzrein, the beloved WCSU ceramics instructor will be on hand as well.
