The recent announcement of the creation of the School of Graduate, International, and Career Studies (SGICS) at Western Connecticut State University will be celebrated with an Open House and official launch for the new school at 9 a.m. in Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the Midtown campus.
The Feb. 28 event will include an introduction by SGICS Dean Dr. Yaseen Hayajneh and remarks by WestConn President (Interim) Dr. Manohar Singh, who will reflect on the strategic importance of SGICS and its alignment with the university’s vision. Subsequent speakers, including WestConn Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Stephen Hegedus, will discuss the role of SGICS in fostering graduate education, workforce development, student career readiness, and global engagement. Also expected to address attendees are local politicians, a WCSU Foundation Board member, and WestConn alumni and/or students who will speak about their personal educational experiences at the university.
Following the speaker segment, guests will be treated to an Open House with light refreshments and the opportunity to meet and mingle with university leadership and other guests.
