HUMAN HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT: Explore the intersection of human health and the environment with hands-on activities and case studies that make this more than a lecture: Ruth McDermott-Levy, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, will discuss Climate Change, Climate Challenges, & Climate Champions. Her area of expertise is public health nursing with a focus on global and environmental health. Co-presenters Arroyo and Morrissey will discuss Housing as a Determinant of Health and Environmental Inequalities. Liana E. Arroyo, MPH, Director of Hartford’s Dept. of Health and Human Services, and Primary Investigator for Hartford’s REACH program, a five-year, nearly $4 million investment to connect communities of color with health and social resources to reduce the burden of chronic disease and improve health status of the community. Lisa Morrissey, MPH, Director of Health of Housatonic Valley Health District which serves five towns in Western CT to ensure the provision of high-quality public health services, expanding clinical programs, and implementing and advocating for policies that best serve the district’s residents.
