Career Education (CED297) Internship Program Application Process

How do I start the Application Process?

To get started, please complete the Career Education Internship Program Student Applicationopens PDF file  and send to Debra Manente at manented@wcsu.educreate new email. She will then direct you to make an appointment by using the Appointment feature in your Handshake account.

Please bring your printed internship application and current resume to your appointment. If your resume needs revision, we recommend that you meet with one of our trained Career Peer Leaders in advance. Once your resume is approved, you can begin to apply for internships through Handshake and the Career Success Center.

  • Students must be in good academic standing and have earned at least 45 credits
  • Have no less than a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Be a matriculated undergraduate student
  • Students can earn 1 to 12 credits per semester depending on hours interned. For example:
    • 10 hours per week for the 15 week semester = 3 credits CED 297
    • 20 hours per week = 6 credits CED 297
    • 30 hours per week = 9 credits CED 297
    • 40 hours per week = 12 credits CED 297
    • Students can earn up to 18 credits in CED 297 throughout their academic career

Internship credit is graded on a pass/fail basis

How to Make Appointments in Handshake

Handshake is WCSU's new job board and events calendar. You can use it to schedule appointments with Career Experts, find jobs and internships tailored to your major, and even reach out to students at other universities that are also using Handshake! Your @wcsu.edu email is already connected to your Handshake account, all you have to do is activate it. Follow the link below to create your password and set up your profile to start browsing opportunities!

Step 1

Enter your wcsu.edu email in the box highlighted in red. Handshake uses your WCSU email and password.

Step 2

Click on the Career Center tab in the upper right-hand corner, then click Appointments in the drop-down window, highlighted in red to the right.

Step 3

Click Schedule A New Appointment button in the top left corner

Step 4

Select internship appointment.

Step 5

Select a time slot that works for you.

Step 6

Provide a brief description of what you would like to accomplish in your appointment.
