Matt Bollinger

Matt Bollinger makes work based on narratives from personal experiences and fictional situations. He deconstructs and rebuilds memories, generating alter-egos in search of transformative moments in the everyday. Drawing and painting form the core of his studio practice with recent incorporation of stop-motion animation. He is represented by Zurcher Gallery in NYC, and has had exhibitions in NY, Paris, Philadelphia, Kansas City, and San Francisco.

Bollinger received his MFA in 2007 from Rhode Island School of Design and his BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. He also studied at Yale, Norfolk. His awards include fellowships from the Sharpe Walentas Studio Program in NYC last year, as well as the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. Since 2005, his work has been reviewed in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Hyperallergic, Le Monde, Art in America, and The Huffington Post. Currently he is Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Art & Design at Purchase College.
