Rotaract is an internationally recognized service group with a motto of “Service Above Self.” We work closely with our local Rotary Club to develop projects that benefit our communities in a meaningful way. Rotaract is a club that places emphasis on community service at both the local and international levels. This group is also a place to develop leadership skills, network, develop professional skills and have fun with other students! We work on two main projects per year with smaller activities in-between. Our Spring 2010 project was “Flip-Flops for Haiti.” Over a period of 2 weeks Rotaract members collected 620 pairs of flip-flops that were sent to the earthquake survivors of Haiti! Our Fall 2010 plans include: 1. Volunteering for local Nursing Homes and Family and Children’s Aid 2. Hosting a Mid-term breakfast for students (funded by the SGA) 3. Writing “Letters of Love” to terminally ill children at Danbury Hospital 4. Sending Care Packages and letters to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan 5. A fundraising Wiffleball Tournament in October to help fight against Malaria 6. Various fundraisers 7. Any of YOUR ideas!
