When is January Orientation?                     

January Orientation is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2015.  Students and parents should gather in the Westside Daily Grind.

Please check our website for weather alerts or tune in to your local TV or radio station for weather related closings. You can also sign up for our Emergency Notification System.

The snow date is Monday, January 12, 2015 at 6pm in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom.

What is January Orientation?   


You and your parents are invited to a special Orientation Session on January 11, 2015 in the Daily Grind on the Westside Campus.  Coffee and dessert will be provided at the beginning of the event.

The program will begin in the Daily Grind with a coffee, hot cocoa, and dessert social at 1pm, followed by a welcome from President Schmotter, the Provost, and Vice President for Student Affairs in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom at 1:20 p.m. 

 At 1:30pm students will attend a social program to meet and connect with other students and learn how to be actively involved on campus.  Parents will be attending an introductory workshop designed to answer their questions about WCSU and learn how they can support their students in their campus experience.  The program will conclude with a question and answer session at 2:30pm and is scheduled to end around 3pm.  Additional programs continue in the evening with Residence Hall and (TBD) Commuter Student meetings at 7pm followed by a PAC sponsored program that is fun for all.

  • Students attend social session
  • Parents attend introductory workshop
2:30 p.m. Wrap-up and final Q & A

January Orientation will be held on the Westside Campus starting in the Daily Grind and then moving to the Campus Center Ballroom on the Westside Campus. Please visit our directions page, and our campus tour for more information.

If you would like to attend January Orientation, we ask that you please call us at 203-837-9700 with your name, major and the number of people that will be attending, or you could respond online by filling out an RSVP form.

On the Westside campus, The Daily Grind in the Campus Center will open at 10 a.m.  for students and parents who wish to purchase light refreshments before orientation begins at 1pm.  On Midtown, several small establishments are within walking distance of the campus.

Dinner will be available in both the Midtown and the WS Campus Center Cafeteria from 2:00 - 6:30 p.m.  Resident students will begin using their meal plans.  Commuter students staying for the program will receive free meal tickets.  Change: Cost for parents is dependent on choice of dinner, pay-as-you-go.

A limited shuttle service will run on Sunday, January 12th between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. The shuttle will leave Westside on the half hour and return from Midtown on the hour.

What requirements are there before I am allowed to register?

The following information must be in place before you can register for classes:

  1. make your $200.00 non-refundable deposit
  2. send a copy of your childhood vaccinations to the Health Service Office (fax to 203-837-8583) – include your WCSU ID number on the fax – or bring this information with you when you come to register
  3. you will need to have taken any applicable placement test as noted in your admissions packet (Math, English, and Chemistry)
