Friday, August 28

Each student should pick up a “Start Something Great!” t-shirt in the Midtown Student Center before 1pm.  We would like you to wear the t-shirt during the "Entering the Gates" ceremony, at future sporting events, and on WestConn Wednesdays.

MOVE-IN DAY

9:00am - 12:00pm
Resident Student Orientation check-in and move-in will take place in each student's residence hall.  Members of various WCSU organizations and athletic teams will be available to assist with luggage.  Don't forget to take your BCSSE survey at your scheduled time (check table below).

Commuter Student Orientation check-in in the lobby of the Midtown Student Center.  Please check the table below for your scheduled time to take the BCSSE Survey.  If you are not scheduled to take it early, you don't have to come before 11am.

Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement (BCSSE) (required) ®
All new first-time students (residents and commuters) will take the BCSSE (pronounced Bessie, like the cow), a survey that asks about your high school experiences and expectations for college.   The survey will take about 15 minutes.  Upon completion of the survey you will receive a coupon good for one free ice cream at Dubl Twister and your name will be entered into a raffle for several prizes.  In addition, you'll receive a ticket ® that you can use to enter the overall Orientation raffle which includes many great prizes including a half in-state tuition prize.

Assemble on the sidewalk in front of Old Main for the "Entering the Gates" ceremony which will begin at approximately 1:30pm.  Students will be asked to wear their “Start Something Great!” t-shirt which they receive in the Midtown Student Center.  (In case of rain this event will be cancelled).

Dinner in the Midtown Marketplace (Midtown Student Center).  Families are welcome to join the students. The cost for family members is $7.95 per person ($3.50 for children under 12).  Family members may pay at the door.  Students need to bring their WestConn ID or orientation meal card.  All new students are free!
Parents are encouraged to leave after dinner to give their students a chance to settle in.

Student Government Association is sponsoring the "Clubs Carnival" on the Quad (rain site TBA).  This is your opportunity to learn about the student organizations at WestConn.  There will be amusements and more on the Quad.  Get involved; join an organization.

Clubs Carnival will continue on Monday so students interested in attending the Great Hollow Orientation Program will not miss out.
