Members Present: Jessica Eckstein, Rotua Lumbantobing, Helena Prieto (Chair), Forest Robertson, Çiğdem Üsekes

    1. November Meeting Minutes (Üsekes/Lumbantobing, 4-0 Final Version Approved)
    2. World Languages & Literature – Tabled February, waiting to hear revisions/answers to questions
      1. Proposal to align 14 courses with IL competency, don’t include SPA 110 and 111 (CD1718041)
    3. Social Sciences – Tabled to February, waiting to hear revisions/answers to questions
      1. ANT/SOC Major changes (CD1718017)
      2. SS Major changes (CD1718018)
    4. Biological and Environmental Sciences (Eckstein/Prieto, 4-0 Approved with 2 revisions to be sent)
      1. New course: BIO 3XX Neuroscience (CD1718034) (Pat Boily)
        1. Provided BIO electives course rotation (will be uploaded to Sharepoint by PRC Chair with approval, with previous enrollments to demonstrate faculty availabilities to teach with current resources.
        2. Need an Assessment Statement – “Course assessment tools may include exams, quizzes, and written reports. A standard grading schema A-G will be used.”

    1. Physics, Astronomy, & Meteorology
      1. Align PHY170 Electronics with SI competency (CD1718068, Jim Boyle) (Üsekes/Lumbantobing, 4-0 Approved with revision to be sent)
        1. Paste standard SI Competency statement into document
      2. New course MTR 2XX: Practicum in Weathercasting (CD1718064, Rob Eisenson) (Eckstein/Prieto, 4-0 Approved with revision to be sent)
        1. Eisenson noted (and will add statement to the effect of): “no impact on other electives students can choose from within MTR courses, as faculty can easily cover course offering with existing staff”
      3. Align MTR150 with SI & CT competencies (CD1718060, A.O. Pan) (Eckstein/Lumbantobing, 4-0 Approved with revision to be sent)
        1. Missing the standard description of each competency (SI & CT) in proposal
    2. Psychology (Eckstein/Lumbantobing, 5-0 Approved)
      1. New program M.S. in Addiction Studies (CD1718075) (Shane Murphy)
    3. Social Sciences
      1. New course ECO 3XX: The Economics of Sport (CD1718082, Lumbantobing) (Eckstein/Prieto, Motion to Table until February)
        1. Need course rotation, to show have staff to not need new resources
      2. New course ANT or SOC 3XX: Ethnographic Field School (CD1718078, Hegel-Cantarella) (Eckstein/Robertson, 0-3 Not Approved)
        1. Need to re-submit with following concerns/aspects addressed:
          1. Need to pick ANT, not “any” designations
          2. Need department’s course rotation
          3. Missing GenEd statements
          4. Missing Assessment Plan
          5. Frequency of offering incorrect
          6. Missing Grading Format
          7. Questions about SI Competencies included
          8. Specific questions about appropriateness of content/requirements for students (e.g., homestays)
