Minutes from February 6, 2017 at 3:00 pm in Warner Hall 315

Committee members present: Stavros Christofi, Surekha Davies, Rondall Khoo, Helena Prieto (Chair), and Cidgem Usekes (Assistant Dean).

Visitors: Pat Boily (Biology and Environmental Science), Gancho Ganchev (Computer Science), and Shane Murphy (Psychology).

Announcements:

1. The scribe for the day is Rondall Khoo.

Old Business:

1. December Meeting Minutes (Stavros Christofi): The minutes will be tabled until the next meeting.

2. Discussion on modification of bylaws to include language to describe submission for general education requirements. (See attachment): The bylaws modifications were discussed at the end of the meeting after discussion of all new business. The modifications with several changes were approved unanimously (Prieto/Khoo, 5-0).

3. Proposal from Psychology-SharePoint. Revision of PSY 392, 393, 394, 395 to include HW competency (CD1516378). The proposals were unanimously approved as a package (Khoo/Davies, 4-0).

New Business:

1. Remove PSY 208 from Program Sheet (CD1617072). The proposal was approved unanimously (Usekes, Davies, 5-0).

2. Proposal from Biology and Environmental Sciences-See SharePoint.
BIO480/490 Revised outlines and alignment with CE and WRT3 Gen Ed competencies (CD1617083). The proposals were approved unanimously (Usekes/Christofi, 5-0).

3. Proposals from Computer Sciences-See SharePoint

a. CS Transfer and Articulation Policy Pathway (CD1617108). This proposal was approved unanimously (Khoo/Usekes, 5-0).
b. CS 140 Intro to Programming change of catalog description (CD1617107). This proposal does not need PRC approval as per PRC by-laws.
c. CS 110: revise competencies, outline, description (CD1617106). This proposal was unanimously approved pending the addition of Quantitative Reasoning Description (Khoo/Davies, 5-0).
d. CS 170 Prerequisite change (CD1617109). This proposal does not need PRC approval as per PRC by-laws.
e. CS 315 Prerequisite change (CD1617110). This proposal does not need PRC approval as per PRC by-laws.

4. Proposals from Communications and Media Arts-See SharePoint

a. Revise COM 205 to add gen ed competencies and program learning outcomes (CD1617101)
b. Revise Course COM 230 History of Mass Media (CD1617102)
c. Revised Course COM 200 Language and Communication (CD1617103.
The motion to table the proposals from the Communication Department was unanimous, because the learning outcomes need to be clearer (Usekes, Prieto, 5-0).
