Welcome to Newman!
The Catholic Campus Ministry of WCSU, a.k.a. Newman, is supported through the generous care of the Diocese of Bridgeport.
Rooted in Gospel values, the Newman community seeks to help recognize,
develop and cultivate the gifts of all God's people at WestConn. We live this mission through varied opportunities of prayer, study, socialization, and outreach to the poor.
In the spirit of our patron, John Cardinal Newman, we understand the important role of the university in helping students to speak to the many possibilities of life, especially the "How" questions we encounter. The role of the Newman Center is to create a place where the "Why" questions of life can be explored and answered more fully.
The Newman Center, located just across the street from Newbury Hall on the mid-town campus, offers a Christ-like hospitality to all members of the WestConn community.
Big Brother/Big
Sister Program
Want to know
more about Newman from our students? Our members would love to
share their experiences with incoming students who are interested in
getting involved in the Catholic ministry on WestConn’s campus. If
you’re looking to find new friends, Newman is a great way to get
better acquainted with other students and the university. From
dinners to retreats, international travel to Wednesday night
prayer. Students often find that Newman enriches their college
experience.
So where do you begin? Email Lauren Horbal at herbal001@student.wcsu.edu to get more information on our new program that connects older students with our incoming freshman to better acquaint newcomers with friends, college life, and our Catholic ministry.
