WCSU Student Veterans Organization and Danbury Animal Welfare Society bring adoptable dogs and cats to campus

DANBURY, CONN. — The Western Connecticut State University Student Veterans Organization (SVO) and Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) will partner to increase pet adoptions and donations for the shelter from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, on the Midtown campus Quadrangle, 181 White St. in Danbury. There will be a number of adoptable dogs and cats on campus for all to see and meet. The public is invited.

Veteran Affairs Coordinator Matthew T. Kuchta, due to his outreach, has made this partnership possible since fall 2014. “Each event is an extreme success in which we average more than $500 worth of food and supplies donated and nearly $200 in funds raised by the WCSU student body,” Kuchta said. “Without these charitable donations, the Danbury Animal Welfare Society would have to rely on other sources in order to keep their nonprofit animal shelter open to the community. The WCSU Student Veterans Organization is proud to partner with organizations throughout the local community to bring awareness to the many pets that are available for adoption.”

Donations being accepted include: cleaning supplies (bleach spray, Windex), paper towels, laundry detergent, kitty litter, kitten food, dog food and rawhide bones.
