Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education

In addition to the courses listed below, students must complete all university general education requirements and sufficient additional free electives to total a minimum of 125 semester hours, including foreign language and physical education. Students must also maintain a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. in all coursework.

Learning Outcomes

WCSU’s Secondary Education Program in Mathematics is designed to prepare our teacher candidates to:

  1. develop a rich, conceptual understanding of major mathematical concepts, procedures and applications,
  2. demonstrate knowledge of mathematical best practices, including problem solving, reasoning, modeling, making connections, and using mathematical tools strategically,
  3. capitalize on the diversity of their students to make lesson content relevant and engaging for their students,
  4. be reflective practitioners who use evidence of their students’ learning to improve instruction,
  5. engage with colleagues, families and communities to grow professionally.
