Minorities in Medicine

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

“Fostering a culturally competent medical workforce”

WHO WE ARE

A club for socially underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students to explore the medical field and prepare for professional schooling. Our chapter is a branch off of the non-profit organization Minorities in Medicine (MM). Founded in 2017, we make it our mission to redefine the strength and determination of pre-health students through collaboration and diversity. We are open to all regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, and all notions that divide us. Together, we can lessen racial and social disparities in health care and empower students interested in the medical field.

  MEMBER BENEFITS

As a chapter, we provide many incentives for our active members. In the past, we’ve been able to host a variety of events such as Suture 101, a hands-on event, led by a YALE attending, where members can learn the fundamentals of suturing. We have also held humanitarian trips to Puerto Rico and visits to medical conferences outside the state of Connecticut. One of our biggest benefits for members is the aid we offer, whether that be covering the expenses for medical school applications or required supplies for school. We are here to provide members an unforgettable experience, and to make the transition to professional school less intimidating!
