Activities: Volunteers annually for the Special Olympics and the Boys Scouts. Staff/Charge Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Waterbury Hospital for the past 5 years.

 

Honors and Awards: Certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump therapy, and Brachytherapy. WestConn at Waterbury Award.

Katrina graduated from Naugatuck Valley Community College in 2005 with an associate’s degree in nursing. She is a Staff/Charge Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Waterbury Hospital. She has been with Waterbury Hospital for five years, including one year as a Student Nurse Intern. Katrina enrolled in Western Connecticut State University’s RN-BS degree completion program in 2006 and anticipates graduating this year. She plans to continue her education at the graduate level in a nurse anesthetist program. She holds certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump therapy, and Brachytherapy. She volunteers annually for the Special Olympics and the Boys Scouts.

"The Greater Waterbury Nursing Consortium, a partnership between the health care providers in the city (Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, and the VNA), and the higher education institutions in the city that provide programs in Nursing (Naugatuck Valley Community College, WestConn at Waterbury, and UConn Tri-Campus) hosted their annual event on May 13, 2009 entitled, Nurses Lead The Way – Dr. Anne Belcher presents: “Can Nurses Live Happily Ever After?”, that showcased nursing as a career of first choice, and illustrated the cooperation among the respective parties. The event was attended by over 350 individuals, and was considered a great success by all parties. Awards were given out by each institution to the nurse who best exemplified the program’s theme with Katrina Carotenuti, RN to BS student receiving the WestConn at Waterbury award. "
