Registration for classes is scheduled for October 21st and 22nd for students with disabilities and for honors students, and beginning October 23rd for everyone else.

Directions for Advisement
Sign up sheets will be posted on Wednesday, October 7th.   You are free to sign up as soon as the sheets are posted. However, only sign up for dates for which you are eligible (see below). (If you sign up for ineligible dates, your name will be removed and you will need to re-schedule)

How do I sign up for advisement?
Come to White Hall 101 and schedule an appointment
Sign-up sheets for advisement with your academic advisor will be posted in the Social Work office on the bulletin board directly across from the entrance.  Be sure to include your phone number in case your advisor might need to re-schedule.

How much time should I schedule for advisement?
Sign-up for one 15 minute session
OR sign up for a 30 minute session (two 15 minute blocks) ONLY if you are

• applying for junior status for Spring 2010, or are
• a first time Social Work major.

On which dates am I eligible to receive advisement?

• Students with Disabilities and Honors’ students  may sign up for academic advisement sessions held on Oct 12-14
• Current Seniors may sign up for academic ADVISEMENT on October 14-16 or later
• Juniors Applying for Junior Standing  may sign up for academic advisement sessions held on October 19-21 or later
• All others may sign up for academic advisement sessions held on October 22-November 11.

What documents am I required to bring to my advisement session?

• Your degree audit (directions on next page)
• Your ideas for courses you are considering taking
• For Juniors Applying for Junior Standing, your responses to the 6 items on the Admission to Junior Status information form.
• Your Advisement Check List (next page)

Is it important that I call the Department to cancel as early as possible if I cannot make my advisement session?
YES—failure to call and to cancel means others cannot use that block of time. Call 203-837-8410 or come to the office to cancel.

ADVISEMENT CHECK LIST

• Signed up for ADVISEMENT dates for which I am eligible
• Signed up for the correct number of 15 minute blocks
• I made sure I entered my phone number on the sign up sheet
• Prepared my Degree Audit to bring to ADVISEMENT
• Reviewed my program sheet, my transcript, my Degree Audit, and the course bulletin to help me plan courses for next semester
• If I am a Junior Applying for Junior Standing, I reviewed and prepared responses to the 6 items on the Admission to Junior Status information form
• Brought all required documents to ADVISEMENT
• Cancelled ADVISEMENT session I could not attend so that others could sign up

HOW TO GENERATE MY DEGREE AUDIT

To get a Degree Audit (CAPP evaluation), you must do the following:

• Get online through Westconnduit:
• Select:  Banner
• Next select:  Student Services
• Select:  Current Degree Evaluation (CAPP)
• Hit:  Generate New Evaluation (located at center bottom of page)
• Bullet the Program:  BA Social Work
• Check Box:  Use In-Progress Courses
• Generate Request
• Bullet Detail Requirements
• Submit
• Your evaluation will run and you will see it on your screen
• Go to Page Set-up (in the File Drop-Down Menu)
• Bullet Landscape:  Click OK
• Select Print
• Print Document and Bring it with you to Advisement
