Music Educators National Conference (MENC) is a student organization that is geared towards giving music education majors the opportunity to gain experience within the profession. We do fundraising at many music events across the state, including the Musical Arts Conference Championships for marching bands and the Connecticut Music Education Association All-State Festival. Attending these events and other workshops gives students the chance to network with professionals already in the field. Networking allows students to become familiar with the workings of the business and makes their names known to those people who will perhaps hire them one day. MENC often brings in well-known local musicians to perform for and speak with the students. This year, we are sponsoring a trip to see a Broadway musical as well. We provide students with other music education resources such as journals and magazines to keep them up to date with the happenings of the music education profession. Our main purpose as a student organization is to provide our members with a wide variety of resources to help them get ahead in their careers.
