Message from the Dean

Welcome to the School of Professional Studies at Western Connecticut State University.

If you are considering a career in Education, Education Psychology, Health Promotion, Nursing, or Social Work, this is the school for you! With undergraduate degrees in each of these professional fields, Master’s degrees in Nursing and Education and Education Psychology, and Doctoral degrees in Education and Nursing, the School of Professional Studies prepares students for exciting and fulfilling careers.¬†

Courses of study are based on the liberal arts and integrate theory and practice by providing rich classroom experiences and applied internships.  Through these community based internships the School of Professional Studies not only prepares students for the professions from entry level to advanced practice, but also contributes to the educational, health, and social well-being of the greater community.

Nursing: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree completion program for RNs, Masters of Science Degree in Nursing, and Doctorate in Nursing Education.


Education/Education Psychology: Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis, Masters of Science Degree in Education, Masters of Science in Education in Applied Behavioral Analysis, (online), Masters of Science Degree in School Counseling. Masters of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health, 092 School Building/District Administrator Program, Doctorate in Instructional Leadership (in conjunction with SCSU).


Health Promotion and Exercise Science: Bachelor of Science Degree In Health Education: Pre K-12, Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Promotion Studies with options in Allied health, Community Health, Holistic and Integrative Health, and Wellness Management.


Social Work: Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work
