Faculty Biographical Sketches
Jody Rajcula, Department of Physical Education
Ms. Jody Rajcula, a Professor of Health Promotion and Exercise Sciences and Department Co-Chair, obtained both her bachelors and her master’s degrees from Southern Connecticut State University in Physical Education and Exercise Physiology. Since joining the Department of Physical Education and Athletics at Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) in the Fall of 1981, Ms. Rajcula has been active in both areas. While serving as the Head Coach of Women’s Basketball, she has also taught several Physical Education activity classes. Her passion for basketball can be seen through her success as a coach and as an advocate for the sport through her involvement with numerous regional and national sports committees. She retired from coaching in the spring of 2003 as the winningest coach at Western Connecticut with 383 wins and became the chair of the Physical Education Department in the fall of 2003. In the spring of 2004, the Physical Education Department merged with the Health Science Department to form the current Health Promotion and Exercise Sciences Department. She has been Chair or Co-chair since and has been instrumental in revising the current physical activity requirement; assisted in re-vamping the curriculum in the B. S. In Health Promotion Studies and oversees the general education physical activity classes. She remains active on campus serving on various committees, and is active in the community currently serving as President of the Housatonic Valley Sports Organizing Committee.
