Dr. Gabriel Lomas is an adjunct professor of counselor education in the School of Professional Studies. Prior to teaching at WestConn, Dr. Lomas taught at the University of Houston – Clear Lake and had a private clinical practice in Houston, TX. Dr. Lomas has research interests that include counseling, assessment, forensics, school counseling, and working with people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Regarding publications, Lomas has authored a number of journal articles, editorials and book reviews. From 2007 through 2010, he served as the co-editor of the Journal of the American Deafness and Rehabilitation Association (JADARA). Additionally, Lomas has book contributions in the Encyclopedia of Counseling (American Counseling Association) and the Handbook of Special Education (Routledge). Regarding service, Dr. Lomas has served on a number of boards including the American Deafness and Rehabilitation Association and the Texas Play Therapy Association. He holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio, an M.A. from Gallaudet University, and a Ph.D. from Sam Houston State University. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his family.
