Western women's tennis edges St. Joseph University, 5-4


HARTFORD, CT (Sep. 20) — The Western Connecticut women's tennis team ended a 12-match slide when it defeated St. Joseph University, 5-4 on Thursday afternoon.

Western trailed, 2-1 after the doubles competition was completed, but earned wins in four of six singles matches to win the match.

Saint Joseph is 1-4 overall on the season. Western improved to 1-1.

Western ended a 12-match slide when it defeated the Blue Jays. The winless streak dated back to October 19, 2010 when it last captured a victory, a win over Plymouth State University.

Western travels to the Panthers this Saturday, September 22 for an 11 am match in upstate New Hampshire.
