Western falls to Westfield State, 148.5-126.5 in regular-season finale
WESTFIELD, MA (Feb. 4) —
Sophomore Kathie Meerman (Danbury, CT) captured wins in the 50-yard backstroke (30.48), the100-yard backstroke (1:05.23) and 500-yard freestyle (5:31.48) but the Western Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team dropped its regular-season finale, at Westfield State University, 148.5-126.5 on Saturday afternoon.
New Fairfield, CT native Danielle Laprine won two events on the afternoon. She was the first to touch the wall in the 100-yard breast stroke (1:12.89) and the 50-yard butterfly (29.49).
Beth Magin (Brookfield, CT) captured the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.85 and in the second-to-last event, earned nine points for the Colonials with a time of 1:05.60 in the 100-yard Individual Medley.
Nicole Olmstead (Southbury, CT) totaled 175.30 points from the three-meter board to take first place while Danielle Core (Goshen, CT) tallied 170.15 points for second place.
The Colonials will participate in the New England Diving and Swimming Championships over the next two weekends, respectively.
