Western women run record to 2-0 with win over SUNY-Geneseo

FARMINGDALE, NY (Sep. 1) —  Junior Ariana D'Aurio (Cheshire, CT) and freshman Rebecca Rivera (Monroe, CT) each scored in the opening minutes to lead the Western women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over SUNY-Geneseo Saturday afternoon on the second day of competition at the Farmingdale Tournament.

D'Aurio opened the scoring in the game's seventh minute and Rivera followed with an insurance goal two minutes later. Both markers were unassisted. Senior keeper Caitlin Avery (East Hampton, CT) made four saves to preserve the shutout.

With the win, Western remains unbeaten to start the 2012 season and stands at 2-0. The Colonials return to action on Wednesday, September 5th, when they host Western New England at the Westside Athletic Complex. Game time is slated for 6:00pm.
