John McNamara
Assistant Coach
Third Season
 
 

John McNamara begins his third season as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.

Prior to joining the Colonials, McNamara served as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Byram Hills High School in Armonk, NY for seven years. During the 2001-02 season, he led the team to its first league championship in 20 years and was named Coach of the Year. He compiled a record 70-52 during his tenure and served on the Section 1 Seeding Committee, League Representative, All Academic Committee and the Isabel Costa Committee, which selects the Section 1 Player of the Year.

Since 1994, he has taught Physical Education in the Byram Hills Central School system. For the past five years, he has also held the position of Assistant Athletic Director at the High School.

McNamara attended SUNY Buffalo from 1986-91, where he was a member of the Division 1 baseball team for two years until the program was changed to club status. He remained a member of the team for his final three years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, he attended graduate school at Hofstra University earning a Master of Science in Physical Education in 1993.

McNamara grew up in Hampton Bays, New York and has lived in various towns in Westchester County, NY before settling down in Danbury, CT with his wife KT and daughters Shea and Kendell.
