Nicole Eanniello nets game-high 22 points and Western Connecticut
remains unbeaten with 72-48 win over Trinity

DANBURY, CT (Dec 1) — Junior Nicole Eanniello (Danbury, CT) scored 22 points to help the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball team remain unbeaten on the season following its 72-48 victory over in-state rival Trinity College Thursday evening at Feldman Arena.

Eanniello got Western on the board first with a three-pointer, but after five minutes of play, the Bantams held a 10-9 lead.  Over the next five minutes, the Colonials went on a 12-0 run to take a 21-10 lead after a lay up by sophomore Chelsea Mone (Bristol, CT)

Another Eanniello three put Western ahead by 16 points, 39-23, with two minutes to play in the half, and the Colonials went into the locker room at intermission with a 15-point lead, 42-27.

The largest lead for the Colonials, now 6-0, was 30 points, 66-36 following a lay in by Kristin Mooney (Ansonia, CT) with 7:35 to play in the contest.

Also scoring in double figures for Western was freshman Amber Litwinko (Kensington, CT) who canned 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. She also pulled downs a team-high eight rebounds. Stephanie Slonski (Griswold, CT) added 10 points and handed out a game-high eight assists.

For Trinity, Michelle Royals (Torrington, CT) scored a team-high 14 points while shooting 8-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Shantell Hanniford (Nantucket, MA) pulled down a game-high 10 caroms for the Bantams, which drops to 2-3 on the young campaign.

The Colonials open Little East Conference play on Saturday, December 3 when they travel to University of Massachusetts Boston for a 1 pm meeting with the Beacons.
