and Washington & Jefferson, 8-2

Magen Dargon pitched a shut-out, collecting five strikeouts and her third win of the season. Jackie Zilnicki came in to relieve Dargon in the seventh inning.
Sophomore, Kylee Ruther, hit Western’s first homerun of the season. Ruther went 2-for-4 in the game. Also hitting well was sophomore Jessica Caturano. Caturano went 2-for-3 with a walk, two singles, an RBI and a stolen base.
Freshman, Rizzo, had her first collegiate at-bat in the seventh inning, hitting a triple and later went on to score.
Western is now 3-0 after the morning victory.

Western’s bats remain on fire, as they earn their fourth victory of the season with its 8-2 win over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.
Senior, Jackie Zilnicki went 3-4 with three stolen bases and an RBI. Samantha Avery went 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI.
Freshman, Christine Bighinatti started her first game of the season at third, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Bighinatti also had two stolen bases and an RBI.
Freshman, Nicole DeFosche entered the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. She was successful, hitting a clutch single.
Western Connecticut is now 4-0 on the season and will play again tomorrow against Luther College.
