Western falls to Plattsburgh State, 12-7 in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Mar. 17) - The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team defeated Western Connecticut State, 12-7, in Virginia Beach on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals went 2-2 on their southern trip and are 4-2 overall. Western falls to 3-3 on the season.

Western Connecticut struck first but Plattsburgh responded with four straight goals to close out the first quarter. The Cardinals held a 7-3 lead at the half before adding five goals in the second half to earn the win.

Offensively, the Cardinals were lead by sophomore attack Tim Lawrence with three goals and an assist. Joe Kramer scored two goals and an assist while Anthony Pafundi also scored a pair of goals. Tommy Kilderry contributed a goal and two assists. James Reed and Nick Travers chipped in two points a piece.

The Colonials were led by Ryan Foster (Ledyard, CT) who scored a team-high three goals. Ryan Gillis (Norwich, CT) added a pair of goals and had a team-high three helpers. Taylor Lahey (Marlborough, CT) closed out the goal scoring for Western with two markers.

Tyler Martone (Cheshire, CT) made 16 saves in the loss.
