CHOICES

C.H.O.I.C.E.S. (WCSU) is the alcohol and substance abuse prevention program at Western Connecticut State University. The goals of our program are to provide confidential assessment and counseling for students experiencing problems with any substance use/abuse; provide resources, information and services that will help students make informed and responsible decisions about the use of alcohol and/or drugs; and educate students about healthy lifestyle alternatives. The internship training positions with C.H.O.I.C.E.S. will allow trainees to gain skills in evidence-based primary and secondary prevention efforts with transitional age youth and young adults. We have a great need at WCSU and in the greater Danbury region to grow and enhance a well-trained workforce in opioid use and other substance use disorders. We are eager to work with students from the Addiction Studies program and anticipate many opportunities to work with these students as well as participate in planned training activities across the campus and community on addiction prevention and intervention.
