Skar translates book

A grant to support the Spanish-English translation of a book turned into an eye-opening research experience for Assistant Professor of World Languages Cultures Dr. Alba Skar and students Ana Mendieta and Katharine Calvey.

Skar traveled to Peru and Bolivia with a CSU-AAUP research grant to support the Spanish-English translation of the book “Pachakuti Rhythms: Popular-Indigenous Mobilization and Uprising in Bolivia” by Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar.

Skar’s book translation explores the 2000-05 uprisings that led to the election of Evo Morales, Bolivia’s first indigenous president.
