Hubble Space Telescope 20th Anniversary

Western Connecticut State University is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope with a series of events this spring. In March, the university and the Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk joined to show the new IMAX movie about the 2009 space shuttle repair mission to the Hubble. Nearly 300 people enjoyed the movie and a lecture by Linda Abramowicz-Reed, a systems engineer at Goodrich ISR in Danbury, and Dr. Ed Nelan, a scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute, who discussed the Fine Guidance Sensors that position the telescope. The Hubble Space Telescope Symposium will conclude in April with a series of events: A panel discussion on Women in Science and Technology, an executive roundtable on The Future of Aerospace, the President's Lecture Series featuring astronaut Story Musgrave, and a Science and Technology Fair.
