Committed to Candlewood
WCSU works with area communities to protect Candlewood Lake as the region's largest fresh water resource. Along with the ecological consulting company EnviroScience, WCSU students assist with the implantation and research of the weevil's effect on the proliferation of Eurasian watermilfoil. Under the supervision of Dr. Lonergan, students in the Master of Arts in Teaching program participated in a group research project involving the effects of temperature on milfoil root systems. Project Clear is a program comprised of area high school students brought together to study fresh-water ecology and conservation at Candlewood Lake and in the labs at WCSU's state-of-the-art science building.
