WCSU to host entrepreneurship discussion

DANBURY, CONN. The Ancell School of Business at Western Connecticut State University will host “The Entrepreneurship Arc: A Panel Discussion with Successful Local Business Leaders” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, in Room 218 of the Westside Classroom Building on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The discussion will be free and open to the public.

Panelists will include:

Andrew Timmerman, founder and CEO of Fairfield Crystal Technology in New Milford. He has more than 23 years’ experience in management, manufacturing and engineering.

Shawn Emmerson, a 2004 WCSU graduate, owner of The Bicycle Center in Brookfield. In 2011, Bicycling Retailing Industry News named the store one of the 100 best bicycle shops in the United States.

Michael Carpanzano, a WCSU MBA student who won the 2012 Connecticut Business Model Competition sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Foundation of Connecticut and was the Grand Prize winner of the Giants Entrepreneurship Challenge. Carpanzano created nuplug, a surge-protected extension cord that can be attached to furniture.

Jonathan Soares, a 2006 WCSU graduate, CEO of Q Products Inc. and founder/creator of Jonathan’s Q Gourmet BBQ Sauces. Soares is also co-founder and CEO of Moo Digital, a software development company.
