Western to Host Senior Thesis Exhibition

DANBURY, CONN. — The Western Connecticut State University Department of Art will present the Senior Thesis Exhibition in April, featuring the paintings and illustrations of graduating art students. The exhibition will run from April 16 through 30, 2014, in the Higgins Gallery in Room 101 of the Higgins Hall Annex on the university's Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Gallery hours will be from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be an artist reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16. The exhibition and reception will be free and open to the public.

The Senior Thesis Exhibition is the capstone experience for WCSU students who major in art and graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The program has four areas of concentration: graphic design, illustration, photography and studio art.

Graphic Design seniors include: Kayla Adams, of Bristol; Chaka Bartels, of Newtown; Heather Braxton, of Stratford; Amanda Dominguez, of Easton; Sonya Elser and Allyson Mckeon, of New Fairfield; Christie Florio, of Wolcott; Lindsey Fortier, Katelyn Gosselin, Elizabeth Markey and Meghan Sturgeon, of New Milford; Joshua Gregorio and Liis Simon, of West Redding; Kimberlee Mazzari, of Brookfield; Connor Michalek, of Danbury; Daniela Palacio, of Norwalk; Amanda Rivera, of Hamden; and Sarah Wyant, of Ansonia.

Illustration seniors include: Kylie Brenner and Nicholas Goral, of Danbury; Jacqueline Chakar, of Milford; Nathalia De Matos and Caitlynn Neeson, of Bethel; Ethan Hill, of Torrington; Jake Levenstein, of Gaylordsville; Nicole Stamatis, of Norwalk; and Heather Woodin, of New Milford.

Photography seniors include: Jake Bartolo, of Norwalk; Sean Bemand, of Kent; Leonardo Magrani, of Danbury; Erin Manion, of Sandy Hook; Francesco Mazzotta, of Brewster, N.Y.; Lauren Stevens, of Cos Cob; Kathryn Stiles, of Brookfield; Alexandra Sweeney, of Newtown; and Jamie Woolfe, of Bethel.

Studio art seniors are: Charles Grubb and Chelsea Mirkhani, of New Milford.
