WCSU softball team to host annual fundraising breakfast

DANBURY, CONN. — The Western Connecticut State University softball team will host its annual fundraising breakfast at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, in the Ballroom of the Campus Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. This is the biggest pre-season fundraiser for the team with an opportunity to meet the players, enjoy a buffet breakfast and win silent auction and raffle prizes. The public is invited.

Head Softball Coach Heather Stone said, “We use this as our main fundraiser to pay for our spring trip, which will be in California this year, where we will play 10 out of our 40 game schedule.”

Stone added, “We were 18-21 last year, 8-6 in conference and finished tied for first in the regular season. We had rookie of the year Charline Plasczynski and two all-conference players on a team that had 17 freshmen. We have 28 members on this year’s team and currently have 15 sophomores who returned, so there is a wealth of young talent.”

In case of inclement weather, the make-up date is set for Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the same time and place.
