NOAA - Graduate Sciences Program

The NOAA Graduate Sciences program was discontinued as of July 2012. Presidential Executive Order13562 of Dec. 2010 directed the Office of Personnel Management to consolidate student and recent graduate programs into the Pathways Program framework which has three program paths that are tailored to recruit, train, and retain well-qualified candidates. The three Pathways Programs are the Internship Program, Recent Graduates Program, and Presidential Management Fellows Program. Individual research opportunities remain for undergraduate and graduate students; follow the NOAA – Education Resources link.

NSF - Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the vitality and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce in the United States.  The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in fields within NSF's mission.  The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant achievements in science and engineering research. The ranks of NSF Fellows include individuals who have made transformative breakthroughs in science and engineering research and have become leaders in their chosen careers and Nobel laureates.

NASA - Graduate Student Researchers Program

The NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project awards fellowships for graduate study leading to master's or doctoral degrees, related to NASA research and development, in the fields of science, mathematics and engineering. This 12-month award includes a required internship at the NASA center affiliated with the NASA-sponsored research. The award may be renewed annually, for a maximum of three years.
