The accounting department is part of Fiscal Affairs and is located in University Hall. The department, along with the Controller and the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration work closely with the auditors from Grant Thornton, the State, and the Connecticut State University (CSU) system to create audited financial statements for the University and ensure that rules and regulations are followed.
Other responsibilities include completing various financial reports for the University, the State and Federal agencies, reconciling the University’s cash and appropriation ledgers, overseeing the capitalization and depreciation of assets, posting of journal entries, reviewing proper coding of financial documents, maintaining the chart of accounts, reviewing appropriateness of grant applications for accounting purposes, and overseeing access to the Banner Financial Module.
