Important information for Communication Majors

 

1.        Log into your Westconduit account and do the following:

·         Select Banner tab.

·         Click on “Student Services”

·         Click on “Check my registration Status”

·         Select Fall 2009 (if not yet available, select Spring 2009) Look for this information:

 

Registration Time Ticket (may tell you when you can register, also see below)

Holds which may prevent you from registering.

Your Academic Standing.

Your Student Status permits registration.

 

  Your Class for registration purposes.

If you see this symbol instead of a check –THERE IS A PROBLEM! If it’s a HOLD, go back to student services and click on “View My Holds Information”

 

Scroll down. You will see:

2.       Contact your advisor to update your Advising Check Sheet and get your PIN. The check sheet will help you with what you’ve taken and what you need to take. Also, double check the catalog and your transcript to make sure the check sheet is correct.

 

 

3.       “PERMISSION SLIP” COURSES:  The department reserves seats in some courses for majors according to which major option you are in and how many credits you have.  Pre-register for “permission slip courses” with your advisor. Some COM courses require a permission slip (this will be a comment in the Open/Close system, indicated by a red asterisk.  If your want a seat in one of those classes you must request a permission slip from your advisor. If you have over 80 credits, you will get a permission slip immediately. If you have less than 80 credits, permission slips will be given out as your registration date approaches. You will get an email telling you that your permission slip is ready for pick up outside 213c Berkshire. You will have a week to register for the class, otherwise the permission slip will expire and the seat will be given to another student.

 

4.       Overrides are very rarely given out for Communication courses, so make sure everything is in order before registration starts!
