Membership in the Newman Club is open to all currently and actively enrolled students at Western Connecticut State University regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or ability.
Active membership is determined by regular attendance at and participation in Newman Club gatherings and events. Students who do not maintain active membership in the club are considered Newman Club associates.
A Newman Club Member is:
- Any student who regularly participates in Newman events
- To have an active voice at Newman Club Business Meetings
- To help in the leadership of planning various events throughout the semester
A Newman Club Associate is:
- Any student who participates in any of our programs
- They will have a passive voice at Newman Club Business meetings

Yes. Because of the nature of fluctuating airfares and foreign currency our final expense for the trip will not be known until everything is paid for. We anticipate adding additional sites.
The trip is March 18 – 26, 2016. We will leave the evening of the 18th and arrive in Rome in the morning of the 19th
How do I pay for the trip?
You may pay by cash, check, ConnectCash (preferred) or credit card (Amex, MasterCard, VISA or Discover) at either Box Office located at the Information Desk located in the Campus or Student Centers.
When is my payment due?
A deposit of $500 is due no later than January 31, 2016. The second payment of $400 is due no later than
February 19, 2016. The final payment is due no later than March 1, 2016.
Where we staying and what are the accommodations?
We are staying at traditional Roman tourist quality plus accommodation within easy walking distance (2 blocks) of the Vatican and the Rome transit system. All rooms are triples with private baths.
How do we get to the airport?
Transportation will be provided between WCSU to JFK.
Continental breakfast is included in each morning. If the budget permits we will have a group dinner. No other meals are included.
What time will we leave Danbury and when will we return?
Our flights are not confirmed. At the mandatory traveler meeting which will be held the first week in February details will be provided.
Is the deposit or other payments refundable?
No. The deposit is your guarantee that you will participate in the trip.
Can we travel to other places?
This will be discussed at the meeting in February.
Yes. It might take up to two months to secure your passport after you apply. Do It NOW.
Please note that the average current exchange rate for cash transactions at the time of this FAQ printing is €1.00 = $1.9 and $1.00 = £0.92. Note that the rate fluctuates and will differ where and when you do your exchange.
Can I use my credit card?
You may use your credit card to pay for the trip. Most places in Rome will accept major credit cards such as American Express, VISA and MasterCard. The exchange rate is usually better using a credit card. Cash machines (ATMs) are available. Check with your bank to verify it is part of an international network and associated fees.
Accident and medical emergency insurance is covered. You may be responsible for out of pocket expenses. You must check with your individual health insurance provider to verify coverage.
