American Beekeeping Federation

PURPOSE
The club is open to all students interested in insects, and is not limited to biology students. The club sponsors speakers, outreach, and regional/international field trips that engage members in insect research and conservation. Participation in the club can lead to educational and research opportunities for students interested in a deeper understanding of insects.

BIWEEKLY MEETINGS
Science Building Room 208 at 4:00pm on indicated Wednesdays.

Date Activity
March 8 Select location for hive on Westside campus, and set it up sometime this week.
March 22 Plant pollinator-friendly flowers.
April 5 Introduce queen bee into hive.
April 19 Check on hive sometime this week.
May 3 Check on hive and possible insect pinning (weather-dependent)
May 17 Last meeting. Last check on beehive before end of semester.
