Catalina Escandon '01 has a degree in graphic design and a minor in photography. She wants to continue taking courses and plans to specialize in PhotoShop techniques.

She is hoping to relocate to either New York or Florida.

Stalin Estevez '01 is a dynamic illustrator who has completed a four year program at Western as well as a four year art program in his native country, Dominican Republic.  Stalin has actively participated in Western's Prisma art club for three years and has won several awards including Western's Illustration contest for the holiday card in 1997, the Professional Illustration Portfolio Award in 1999 and the Appel Award in 1995 and 1999.    Stalin does freelance work for Rutledge Books, Inc., Demorgan Industries Corporation and several local businesses.  While working for Rutledge he designed seven book covers.  Besides participating in local shows and exhibitions throughout Connecticut, Stalin teaches children at the YMCA Escape for the Arts program.
Craig Harvey '01 does freelance design for local businesses and has worked at Mulvaney Mechanical doing industrial design, architectural design and personnel management.  He has also worked in mall photo shoots doing photo manipulation

Jessica Lamoureaux '01 is finishing up her degree in Studio Arts and plans to get her Master’s and then a job as a professor. Her work is an expressionist figuration based on themes from nature. She says, “I am inspired because I love nature. I love to portray it and the emotions that I feel when I’m in nature and the emotions that nature inflicts upon me and that is reflected in my work.”

Charlotte (Lapierre) Lasek '01 did an internship with the Danbury News Times and is now working at Signal Graphics Printing in Glastonbury, CT. It is a quick print shop with a 2-color press. She designs stationary and brochures, invitations, postcards, posters, and some identity pieces, and other miscellaneous things. She is also responsible for all prepress work, as she is the only designer/prepress operator in the shop.

Aline Marie '01 says, "I want to be able to heal people through their eyes by mixing light, love and the divine spirit."  She wants to be able to connect back to nature and  reproduces her work in postcards, bookmarks and other means to make art affordable to all.

Rodrigo Salazar '01  is married to Rebecca Smith a WC graduate in justice and law.

Matt St. Pierre '01 has supplemented his studies with some workshops at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. After graduating he traveled Europe for two weeks. Matt said, "It was truly inspiring for anyone interested in art, architecture or even just traveling. It was one of the best things I've done, ever!

Matt is working at US Surgical, a healthcare company in North Haven, CT. He is in the creative packaging department designing international labels, boxes and other packaging graphics.   He also work closely with marketing, coordinators and plant managers and am learning the business end of design.

Sabrina Valente '01 continues to paint and is teaching preschool in Danbury, Connecticut.

Emile Waite '01 has a Bachelors of English and Mechanical Engineering from New York University. After retiring, he returned to school full time to get a degree in art.  He started painting twenty-five years ago.  Last spring he studied abroad for a semester in Italy. He went to Fiorenza, Florence, to an accredited art school called Studio Art Center International (SACI). 

This summer he wants to drive cross country and paint. He also wants travel to Switzerland.

Dawn (Ambrose) Cavaliere '02 is working as a graphic designer at Cannondale Bicycle Corporation in Bethel, Connecticut.

She heads up the companies Apparel and Accessories catalogs encompassing everything from directing the photo shoots, laying out the pages, and proofing during the press run. When a catalog is not in production she also designs some of the companies printed marketing pieces including brochures, postcards, and posters. She just recently started designing some of the companies apparel packaging as well, trying to broaden her skills as a designer.

Carol Barrett '02, a full time mom to her two boys, was a studio arts major after transferring from NYU graphics design program and continues to freelance in illustration and computer aided graphic design. She is employed at the Barrett Art Center in New York, where she teaches drawing and is on the Art Advisory Committee.  She is also teaching adult education classes for Dutchess Community College in New York while preparing for her graduate studies as well as substitute teaching for the Arlington Central School District in New York. She will also be teaching continuing education courses for Dutchess Community College at Pawling High School.

Rachel Crowley '02 is an illustration major.  She says, "I have always loved drawing and painting since I was little. Art is my life and I plan on expressing myself until I'm old and gray. What I want out of life, isn't really to be rich, but to reach out to people with my art work. If I can make people think differently and touch people's lives because of my work, then my job is done. I also want to be happy. Money does not really matter to me. I just want my voice to be heard and to express myself about the world in the way I see it, and I won't settle for anything else. I just want people to understand what I'm thinking and hope they can relate to me. That is my ultimate goal."

Joe Crupi '02 is working Byte Interactive, an interactive marketing agency (www.byteinteractive.com) in Norwalk, CT.

After spending four years as an Art Director at Tracylocke in Wilton, CT working on Frito-Lay and Pepsi International, he moved on as Senior Art Director to G2 Promotional Marketing in Stamford, CT where he led a team of art directors on such accounts as Pernod, Bic, Kraft, Scotties, and Colgate.

His current accounts are Coty and Unilever's Degree for Men, which are only two of the many exciting accounts Byte currently does business with.

In his free time,  he continues to do my own freelance designing and illustrations and am currently developing a series of posters, apparel, and vinyl figures.

Michelle Falis '02 wants to take a few years off.  She wants to work on her art and get a good portfolio together and then apply to a good Graduate school. Michelle says, “I am still developing my style. It is an abstract piece of work and it is very organic. It’s leading into something else. I don’t think it’s the final version of what its going to be. I am at a stage right now in my development. I think it shows a stage of my painting evolution and my own evolution as a painter.

Meghan Gargano '02 started painting at a young age, with nature as her prime inspiration.  Since graduation she was an artist in residence at Nantucket School of Design and the Arts.  She has taught children's art classes at Paint, Draw and More in Connecticut, The Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts and also taught at the Nantucket School of Design and the Arts.  Meghan continues to paint in Connecticut and in Boston, MA and can be reached at megmyg26@yahoo.com.
 

Jacki Geary '02 received the Excellence in Photography Award from WestConn. She is currently working as a photographer shooting weddings and portraits. Working on both east and west coasts, Jacki finds her new career as a photographer very exciting. Chris Muehlfeld '02 is working at the frame shop in Michael's Arts and Crafts in Brookfield, Connecticut while he continues his studies at Western.

Mark Psomas '02 plans to be an art teacher.  He looks for the conceptual design and his work is based on self exploration.

Rebecca Rigdon '02 received her degree in graphic design, graduating with honors. She decided not to pursue a career in the graphic design field, but rather to continue her design interests as a hobby.  This August she enrolled in Oklahoma City University School of Law and finished her first semester.  She hopes to earn a J.D. and begin practicing criminal law.  Rebecca is enjoying Oklahoma City and has registered with the bar association here just in case she is offered a job. She says, "Most people hear graphic design degree and law school together in the same sentence and give me a crazy look, but my design classes provided me with a lot of skills I find very useful in the study of law. Being able to think creatively and to "think outside the box," as Professor Wells used to say, have helped me accelerate in my studies. I am really enjoying what I am doing and very happy to have made the switch."
